Prototype injection moulding

Efficient, fast and cost-effective

Injection moulding for plastic prototypes

Ideal for small quantities

Prototype injection moulding at Solidtec is ideal for small batch sizes. The advantages of prototype production include a simplified process, greater efficiency and significant time and cost savings.

Often, only small quantities of a plastic part are required initially. However, producing these using the injection moulding process involves a considerable investment of time and money. That is why Solidtec offers its customers the production of prototype plastic parts using aluminium moulds. Right from the design stage, the injection moulds are specifically designed for small batch sizes.

What makes our rapid tooling process special is that, true to the motto ‘less is more’, we have integrated many functions of series production – such as cooling and the ejection system – into the modular Solidtec master mould system. For prototype injection moulding, this means: simpler tooling set-ups and greater efficiency in the production of your plastic parts as prototypes.

Further advantages of this solution: Different gate positions can be tested with relatively little effort.

This enables the optimal filling configuration for the mould cavity to be determined – quickly, reliably and cost-effectively.

Your development partner, from plastic prototypes to small-batch production

At Solidtec, we see ourselves not just as a manufacturer, but as your development partner. We support you from the initial idea right through to series production. Once the first prototype plastic parts have been produced, we are on hand to offer our expertise to further optimise processes – whether this concerns functionality, appearance or the filling of the mould cavity.

We are happy to share our knowledge with you: through this knowledge transfer, we lay the foundations for efficient and seamless series production. Furthermore, at Solidtec, you have the opportunity to be present on-site during the sampling process. This allows adjustments to be implemented straight away and the results to be checked immediately.

A particular advantage of manufacturing plastic prototypes using the rapid tooling process is that changes can be made to the aluminium mould with minimal effort. This enables flexible and cost-effective adaptation – a key benefit that steel moulds cannot offer.

Prototype construction: an overview of the benefits

That is why prototype injection moulding at Solidtec is the ideal choice for prototypes, functional samples and display samples of your plastic parts:

  • A comprehensive development partnership: We support you from the initial idea right through to production as small-batch production or large-scale production – including consultancy and knowledge transfer.
  • Optimisation options: Adjustments to the aluminium mould can be implemented quickly and efficiently.
  • Efficient rapid tooling: Simplified tooling set-ups for greater efficiency and lower costs.
  • Live on-site prototyping: Be there during prototyping and experience the process in real time.
  • Cost-effective process: Ideal for small batch sizes with short development times.
  • High flexibility: Various gate positions and adjustments to the design of your plastic part can be implemented without any problems.
